Interior Stone Accent Walls
Light enough to go on a standard stud wall — which is why this is the one upgrade a Miami condo owner can actually make.
A large share of what Miami Stone Veneer Specialists sells goes indoors, and the reason is structural. If you own a condo in Brickell you cannot touch the facade. The accent wall is the only surface that's actually yours.
Why it works on drywall
Manufactured stone runs 11 to 15 pounds per square foot. Full-bed quarried stone runs three times that and needs a footing. That weight difference is the entire reason adhered veneer exists as a product category, and it's why a standard stud wall takes it without any structural work.
The install is lath fastened through the drywall into the studs, scratch coat, then stone. The drywall isn't carrying anything — the fasteners are. Skip the lath and glue stone directly to the wall and it will come off, on its own schedule, usually at night.
The four walls people do
- TV wall. The most common by a wide margin. Watch the relief depth — a deeply textured face makes wall-mounting a bracket a real problem. Plan the mount before the stone.
- Headboard wall. Wants shallow relief and warm tone. This is Royal Stone territory.
- Entry panel. Small area, big impact, and the one place a dramatic face is worth it because you pass it rather than live in it.
- Kitchen or bar back. Seal it. Grease and stone are a bad combination and an unsealed face is very hard to recover.
Light is the thing people get wrong
Stone eats light. All that relief is surface area absorbing rather than reflecting, and in a room with one window a dark textured wall will noticeably dim the space.
Two fixes. Choose shallow relief and pale colour in small or low-lit rooms. And graze the wall — a linear fitting close to the surface, throwing light across it rather than at it. Front-lighting a stone wall flattens it and wastes the texture entirely.
What it costs
A typical 120 square foot TV wall runs $1,100 to $2,200 in material. Installed, $2,800 to $4,500 depending on relief depth and how much cutting the installer faces around outlets and mounts.

Can stone veneer go straight onto drywall? +
Not directly onto the paper face. You need lath fastened through the drywall into the studs, then a scratch coat. The fasteners carry the load, not the drywall. Done that way a standard stud wall carries manufactured stone with no structural changes.
Will my condo association allow it? +
Interior work almost always, yes — it's a finish, not a structural or exterior change. Check whether your building requires a licensed contractor and a certificate of insurance for any work involving fasteners. Most Brickell and Edgewater buildings do.
How much weight are we talking? +
Roughly 11 to 15 pounds per square foot for manufactured stone. Adhered veneer under 15 psf generally doesn't require structural review — which is the threshold the code was written around, and the reason this product exists.
Which stone won't make a small room feel smaller? +
Shallow relief and pale colour. Royal Stone and the Galarza formats are the safe picks. A deep rustic face in a dark tone absorbs a lot of light and will close a small room in noticeably.
