Entryways & Front Elevations

The smallest area on the house with the biggest return — a few hundred square feet that changes the whole elevation.

If someone comes to Miami Stone Veneer Specialists with a limited budget and asks where to spend it, the answer is almost always the entry. It's 150 square feet that everyone sees, every time, and it sets the read on the whole house.

Why small area beats large area here

Cladding a full facade is a $20,000 to $40,000 decision. Cladding the entry is a $2,000 to $5,000 decision. The visual return is not proportional — the entry is where the eye goes, where the photograph is taken, and where a visitor forms their impression while they wait for the door.

Plenty of our customers clad the entry first, live with it a year, and then do the rest of the elevation. That works well as long as you buy enough stone for both up front, or accept that a later batch may not match exactly.

Match hard or contrast hard

The one thing to avoid is the near-match. A warm cream stone against warm cream stucco, slightly off, reads as an error rather than a choice. Your eye catches the discrepancy without identifying it.

Two safe routes. Match the existing colour exactly — bring us a chip and we'll get it right. Or contrast properly: a deep Classic Slate entry against pale stucco, or a warm Cantera surround against a white modern facade. Both read as deliberate.

Details that make it look expensive

  • Wrap the reveal. Take the stone into the door reveal rather than stopping it at the face. Stopping flat shows the thickness and reads as applied decoration.
  • Corner pieces. Every outside corner. No exceptions.
  • Light it from below. Two uplighters at the base of a stone entry wall costs almost nothing and doubles the effect after dark.

What it costs

80 to 250 square feet, so $800 to $4,000 in material depending on collection. Installed, typically $2,500 to $7,000. Columns are priced separately because they need radiused pieces.

Common questions

How much area is a typical entry? +

Between 80 and 250 square feet for most South Florida homes — a portico, the wall either side of the door, and sometimes a column or two. It's the smallest meaningful area on the house, which is why it's the best value upgrade available.

Should the entry match the rest of the facade? +

Either match it exactly or contrast it deliberately. What looks wrong is nearly matching — a warm limestone entry against a slightly different warm stucco reads as a mistake. Contrast is safer than approximation.

Does stone around a door affect resale? +

Cost-vs-value studies consistently put manufactured stone veneer near the top for return, and the entry is where the perception concentrates. It's the photo in the listing.

What about the threshold and the step? +

Horizontal surfaces underfoot are a different product — you want a paver or a slab, not adhered wall veneer. Keep our stone on the vertical faces and use a proper treadable material for anything you stand on.
